United Way of the Ozarks is pleased to announce the naming of Amber Alcorn as director of communication and volunteerism.

The director of communication and volunteerism is a vital member of UWO’s team. In this role, Alcorn will serve as the primary public relations leader. She will promote community ownership among UWO volunteers and serve as the front-runner for the annual Day of Caring event.

“We are very thrilled to welcome Amber to our team at UWO. Amber is a bright light; she has an energy that charges everyone around her,” says Rachael Walsh, vice president of resource development at United Way of the Ozarks. “We’re excited to have Amber lead our volunteer and communication efforts, which will ultimately help us build community ownership and strengthen our community.”

Alcorn brings nearly ten years of nonprofit leadership and communication experience to the role. She formerly served as the marketing and communications assistant at Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield, after having served as a Club director for over six years.

She earned her bachelor’s degree from Central Bible College and is currently pursuing a degree in journalism from Missouri State University.

As director of communication and volunteerism, Alcorn will raise awareness around our community’s critical needs and red flags and highlight UWO’s role in meeting these challenges.
